“Wait… you’re a life coach? What do you actually do?” I get asked about these questions all the time, so here are my answers below.

1. So do you like, tell me what to do and give me life advice?

Yes, and No.The purpose of my role as a life coach is to help you find your own answers within so you can build stronger trust with yourself and your own intuition. I serve as the facilitator/ guide (personally, I prefer these titles more) who help you bring to the surface the truths of your heart and understand what is truly right for you.

Only you know best how to live your life! And I help you build better skills to do that and hold yourself accountable.

However, I also read in between the lines & feel into your energy, and I WILL tell you if you’re lying to yourself and are not seeing your own blind spots.

Often when we’re living in our own problems close up, we need a third party and/ or trained professional to provide a different, non-judgemental perspective. You simply cannot read the label from inside the bottle.

2. What’s the difference between life coaching vs therapy?

There are 2 explainations I like to go by:

(1) Therapy/ counselling focuses more on the pain/ hurt, while life coaching focuses on your becoming.

In life coaching, we definitely do still touch on the pain and help you heal whenever necessary (I also faciliatate parts work & inner child work for healing etc.) but it’s just not the main focus.

(2) Life coaching focuses more on the present and future. While therapy is more about the past and what happened.

If we do talk about the past in our sessions, it’s mostly in context to regulating and transforming those past memories & experiences so it can be helpful to where you are now & your future.

I have many clients who currently also work with a therapist and/ or have worked with them in the past. Coaching and therapy are not in conflict to each other. It just depends on what phase you’re in right now & what type of support you’re looking for.

3. What if I’m not committed enough and nothing changes even after our time together?

I’d first start by questioning the belief that you’re not committed. What are your conditioning/ experiences that prompted you to feel this way? A sprout just naturally grows in a well nourished environment.

When your heart is aligned and your nervous system is regulated… naturally you WILL just commit and want to grow and be better (without needing to “try so hard”, which is another convo all in itself…)

Our coaching is to help you unblock whatever is causing feelings of resistance & stagnation in your mind, body and spirit so that actions just flow naturally and growth becomes your second nature.

You ARE a committed person (especially if it’s toward your deepest goals and desires. And if you’re someone who is into personal growth) We just need to reorient your internal systems and design your external enviornment. So you’re in the right state to flourish and truly come alive towards whatever it is you want to do.

4. Do you have a specialization, or do you do general life coaching?

Because of my personal experience/ upbringing, I work a lot with artists, creatives, online business owners, immigrants, asian women/ poc, and professionals in their 20’s and 30’s.

I offer general life coaching. Meaning we can work through your business/ career, relationships, family, health, etc. whatever is on your mind in each session. When we’re just starting, we will also do an overview of your life and create a coaching plan/ goals of what to work on.

But what’s even more important is that we CONNECT and you feel safe and trust that I can help you solve your problems. So I’d highly recommend booking a free discovery session and see if we’d be a good fit.

5. What if I become too dependent on you?

Actually, my coaching with you overtime will help you become more dependent on yourself.

Through our sessions, you will find your own answers, see how amazing/ capable you actually are, and walk away with important mental + emotional skills for you to overcome your own problems.

6. Will I have to do a lot of work? and will there be homework outside of our sessions?

Our coaching is here to support you so you can better live out your life. Not to add as another task on your to-do list. In every session, we’ll talk about your current life concerns/ problems, create changes + transformation on the spot, and you run with it and apply it to your life post session.

So no, there’s no “homework” per se, there’s just you practicing and living out what we talked about. But of course, we can still assign action steps and practices for you depending on what you need.

7. I’ve never worked with a life coach before. What do you suggest?

Set up a discovery session to talk about your needs and what you’re looking for. This initial session is free at no extra cost to you. We can discuss the details on the call about customizing the coaching plan and options for you.
