So hi! Let me reintroduce myself. My name is Shirley (you can call me Shir)⁠

1) I'm a Taiwanese Canadian living in Vancouver⁠, BC 🍁⁠
⁠⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
2) I drink tea🍵⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
3) I like cats⁠
⁠

4) I'm freakin' scared of cockroaches, slugs, and caterpillars.⁠

5) I'm an ENFP, Type 2 (according to my client Brittany😉) and my sign is Sagittarius⁠🏹⁠

6) I loveee to snowboard! 🏂 But now that the weather is getting warmer, I'm looking forward to spending more time outdoor hiking this summer (BC has beautiful mountains & sceneries)⁠

7) I have natural deep eyebags (Really, I do get enough sleep and I like to think I was born with them)⁠

8) I'm 5 ft tall (or short)⁠

9) The next movie to watch on my list is Pride and Prejudice.⁠

10) I'm kind of awkward with small talks. I like to get straight to the point. I also like to go deep and personal with you (hence, my profession suits me pretty well lol)⁠

You're playing scenarios in your head and beating yourself up for what you said or what you did. You still haven't forgiven your Past Self.⁠

One reason why you have a lot of regrets, could be because you're not actively working on yourself right now and thinking about your Future.⁠

Here's a "brief" 😅 story about me :⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Before I started geeking out on personal development/ mental health and later becoming a Life Coach, I spent about 5~ ish years before that wanting to work in marketing.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I thought everything was all set. That I've found my path. ⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Until the 1st week of my 9-5 job when I realized that this wasn't exactly how I imagined.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Something felt off. It's as if I was missing something. ⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
But I still persisted (thinking that I should be more disciplined and that I'll get used to this work soon. I ended up doing marketing for 2 more years)⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
And it never got easier. ⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I thought something was wrong with me.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Because on the outside I seemed fine.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
But internally, I was drowning.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
( I later come to realize it was high-functioning anxiety & depression )⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I was lost, confused, anxious, insecure.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I hated myself. I didn't like my job. I wasn't being present with my family, friends, and relationships. Everything felt like - what's the point?⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I was depressed, numb, and extremely guilty (for feeling this way), and I didn't know how to express it or get out of this hole.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
To this day, I still like to think that Life Coaching found me (like literally, an idea was dropped into my head that I should look for a Life Coach and become one myself 🤯)⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
What happened after that was a rigorous period of seriously "working on myself", diving into my healing, shredding a lot of my self-sabotaging patterns/ habits, getting certified, working with other coaches on my own growth and building up my business.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
It was definitely not always easy. Even to this day too.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Some days I still have existential crisis and have no idea what the F I'm doing. 😅⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
But now I have the tools. I have the skills. And I have the experience.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
And I have a slightly more "managed" brain and I know how to process my emotions compared to before.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠

My fingers hovered above the keyboard for a while. My fingers hovered above the keyboard for a while. I hesitated hitting publish for everyone on the internet to read what I'm about to share.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Immediately after I hit Enter, a wave of shame washed over me:⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Shir, no one cares about you.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
I can't believe you just did that.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
No one wants to hear what you have to say.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Who do you think you are?⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Yet despite the cluster of critical voices that my primitive brain keeps feeding me,⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Somehow I still found that quiet, soft voice deep within whispering:⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Hey, you did it.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
You spoke what you wanted to say.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
You spoke - out LOUD.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
That was almost 2 years ago... when I announced that I was going to become a life coach.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Since then, every time when I share my thoughts online, it's simply been a practice of expecting the immediate wave of critical thoughts... and then finding that quiet whisper within and seeking comfort there.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Sometimes these critical voices are much quieter (because I've had practice). Other times, it's still as loud as ever. And even then, I almost always still hit publish. Because really, I've just had lots and lots of practice.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
If you're building an online community or practicing sharing your thoughts with others - whether it's online or in person⁠
⁠
... know that it's NOT supposed to be easy.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Voicing out your opinions and asking to be heard can be very uncomfortable.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
It can be nerve-wrecking.⁠
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
Your brain will think you're gonna die.⁠😅
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠

Both positive and negative experiences co-exist together, no matter where you are.⁠

➡️ You will always have problems. You will also always have things to celebrate and feel good about.⁠

➡️ how much time you spend on your passion hobbies
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⁠
➡️ and how you build the habits you actually want to have⁠
